Sales Secret (37): Make a customer, not a sale.

Hi,
As a salesman, you may have a tendency to make sales always. But you can never make a sale without first making a customer. Hence, you effort should be towards making a customer first, and not the sale.

When do you make a customer? You make a customer when he starts trusting that your interest is to help him get what he wants and certainly not to sell him what you have. When he sees a genuine concern in you for finding a solution that best meets his needs, he becomes your customer. On the other hand, if he sees that your primary objective is to just sell him what you have irrespective what he requires, you not only a lose a sale but also a potential customer.

So let your focus be on making a customer first. Sales will follow sooner than later.

To your sales success,
With love,
Siva
