Saturday Story From Siva (53): The mighty oak was once a little nut that stood its ground

Hi,
People called it a nut. But it proved them wrong and showed that it could become a huge tree. Because, it did not believe in them. Rather it believed in itself. It trusted that God brought it with a purpose i.e., is to grow and serve. So, It stood its ground. It waited for its moment. It took roots and emerged out of the soil. It grew taller and taller, lived longer, and served better and better. And, now the same people who mocked at it once now started praising it a "MIGHTY OAK" tree. Let me share with you the story of the Oak tree through this week's Saturday Story....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The mighty oak was once a little nut that stood its ground
(Story courtesy: The Mighty Oak by Jason Hudson
http://www.spiritual-short-stories.com/spiritual-short-story-310-The+Mighty+Oak.html

As a young boy stares in bewilderment at an old enormous oak tree, he asks his father, " How did that tree grow so big and so high?" The father replies, " Well, it didn't start out that way! First, it was a seed that soaked up water and sunlight and it then it formed roots to give it strength to grow even stronger. It would then have to survive the cold snow of the long winters but that snow also provided that seed with protection and water that it would need to survive.

"After the first winter would pass, the seed's roots would grow stronger and bigger. With each passing summer, the seed would stretch its roots and would start to produce leaves. Although the tree would lose its leaves every fall, they would always grow back from where they came.

"So, as each year passes, nature performs its perfect job and the seed transforms itself into a tree each year by growing stronger, bigger and more beautiful than the year before."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There may be many naysayers who might belittle you or your dreams. They may call you nuts or insane and mock at you. They just don't know know what is hidden in you. It is you who should take your stance, believe in yourself, face the challenges, overcome the obstacles,  remain confident, grow up to be a person to serve the world in your own way, and become a force to reckon with. Then, don't be surprised if these very people call you a rock star or a celebrity or even a messiah.

To your SUCCESS,
With love,
Siva

As He has the capability to change his own body at his will, He is called 'mahaasaktih.' And that power exists in His will itself.

He is called mahaaveeryah' as he has the great attribute of 'veerya' which means staying unchanged despite the reasons.

'veerya' means unchanging even in the minutest manner despite the existence of many forces or reasons. He has this nature of stability in him in full, hence the name 'mahaaveeryah."

Unstoppable Updates (24): We are the Miracle called SEEDS

We are the Miracle called SEEDS
Hi,
Having had the good fortune of being born in a farming family, studying agriculture at college and postgraduate level, and also working with agri-input sector companies over the years, especially with those dealing with SEEDS, I have always had a fascination to observe the seeds, study them, and understand them what they are, or perhaps who they are. Last year, the popular cold storage company that has been providing its services to several of seed companies "The Gubba Cold" organized a conference with the theme, "Does Every Seed Matter?" and I was invited to speak on the topic, "SEED: The Ultimate Miracle." That made me peep into the SEEDS a little further, probe into their character a little longer, and go to the extent of even talking to them. Yes, they are SEEDS. They have life. They are living, and they have an attitude.  I had some fascinating and very inspiring revelations. I would like to share with you through this blog post what the seeds told me.

"They buried us in the soil. They didn't know we were seeds." _ Mexican proverb

1. We bounce back strongly
We are the seeds. You may push us into the soil, an animal may trample us down, or a farmer may sow us in his farm; we wait for the right moment to bounce back. All that we need is a trickle of rain or a few drops of dew to imbibe every bit of it, break the shell that covers us, take the root, and emerge out victoriously to see the light of the day. We know the struggles we go through as we germinate and emerge will only make us stronger and prepare us for bigger challenges out there in the days ahead. We relish these initial adversities, as our intentions are not to limit ourselves and remain at the bottom, but to move upwards, rise above, and touch the sky. We bounce back strongly.

2. We multiply our value manifold.
We are the seeds. We grow with a purpose. We branch out, blossom, bear fruit, and produce multiple copies of what we are - the seeds. Nature has made us take birth, grow, multiply our value, and become a source of wealth. We live our life as an asset that is cared for and nurtured with love. We are born to give, to generate, to multiply, and to become sources of future life. We are the seeds. We multiply our value manifold.

3. We carry with us unlimited wealth.
Yes, we are the seeds.  In each of us is a genetic code that determines the shape of the leaf and color of the flowers you see, the smell of the spices you eat, the strength of the wood you use, and what not - Everything. We carry the genes - the future wealth of the nations. We are the invaluable pieces of the creation of God carrying with us the power to generate wealth that could easily outweigh the value of all of the gold, diamonds, and all other precious stones on the planet earth. Yes, we are the seeds - your wealth. We carry with us unlimited wealth.

4. We are strong, yet flexible.
We are the seeds. We take our time: we know patience pays. We are in no undue haste, though we don't leave any opportunity without taking advantage of it. We trust in God that he has his own plans for each one of us. We are thankful to him for our birth as seeds and the unlimited power he endowed us with. Even the biggest of the boulders or the strongest of the storms cannot destroy us, as we know how to let them pass, stay in our groove of safety, and trust in God that better days are ahead. When the soil crusts try to prevent our emergence, we know that if we are persistent enough and keep hitting them, they will give us a way to emerge sooner than later. If bigger stones block our way, we know how to find a way out by growing around them and using them as an anchor instead of treating them as an obstacle.  When the storms come, we find no wrong in bowing our heads and bending down so that they pass through. They won't last long. Every storm will pass through. And very soon, we will have our own days. Yes, we are the seeds. We are strong, yet flexible.

YES, we are the miracle called SEEDS.

To your success,
With love,
Siva

Monday Motivation for Success from Siva (MMFS-33): Fears that are upsetting you now might be totally untrue

Hi,
Is there anyone who hasn't experienced any fear in life yet? Perhaps no one. Fear of heat or cold, falling or drowning, failure or falter, loss or lacunae, dangers of wild and wicked, threats of the evil and insane, and what not? While it is certainly good to have fear of doing things that are harmful and stay away from them, it may be worth giving a thought whether it is appropriate to suffer pain and experience hurt and anger on account of fears that might never come true. We imagine at times situations turning out to be unfavourable to us and go through the pain with just the fear of their future negative consequences. And that pain of fear is so much that it hurts us much worse than when the unwanted actually happens. More often, that which was feared for might be totally untrue. Let us look at this incident from The Ramayana.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Fears that are upsetting you now might be totally untrue
When Bharata came to know that Rama left on account of his mother's demands, he felt very bad. He called his ministers and told them, "In our dynasty, the eldest son of the king is eligible to succeed and sit on the throne. Rama is the eldest among our brothers. Let us take all the army and everyone to the forest and complete the process of crowning of Rama as the king in the forest itself. And, when he leads us from the front and returns to Ayodhya, we will walk behind him. Let us get ready and go to the forest." Soon, Bharata left Ayodhya with his entire army and moved towards the forest.

There in the forest, Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita were enjoying the beauty of the forest. And, suddenly, they noticed the forest animals running hither and thither. They became silent and started listening quietly. They heard some commotion, and Rama asked Lakshmana to check where the noise was coming from. Lakshmana immediately climbed a tall tree and looked around from there. His eyes turned red with what he saw. He became very angry and quickly climbed down the tree. He told Rama with a lot of anguish, "Rama, the army of Kosala kingdom is coming this side. I could see the chariot of Bharata right in the front of it. He is coming to kill us. The army is also very alert and enthusiastic. Should we counter attack them right from here where we are or should we climb the mountain and take a strategic position there? Today, I will kill Bharata and pay my gratitude to my bow and arrows. And, you will be the king of Ayodhya."

Rama calmed him and asked him to wait suggesting that Bharata might be coming to them only to take them back to the kingdom.
Look at Lakshmana! Initially, his heart was filled with so much of pain and anguish as he feared that Bharata was coming to kill them. That fear made him behave badly and talk wrongly about his own brother, Bharata. Lakshmana, however, repented later for what he feared about when he came to know that his fears were totally untrue.

-----------------------------------------------------------
I did experience many such fears and suffered the pain out of those imaginative failures and losses. And, when I looked back and saw myself how much frightened I was with some of those fears that never came true, it all looked like a big joke. I realised that I should not have magnified my fears and behaved the way I did or worried the manner in which I suffered. Now, when fears come to my mind, I started doubting them more. Is this fear really true? Will it really happen? Perhaps not. Then, why should I suffer the pain of loss now itself. The answers are more comforting and the life is becoming more peaceful. It could be for you too.

Doubting your doubt is the key to calm your fear.

To your success,
With love and regards,
Siva

Monday Motivation for Success from Siva (MMFS-32): If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you!

Hi,
Is there someone challenging you at your home and making you feel uncomfortable? Or do you find the work targets at your office challenging and unreasonable? Whether we like it or not, it is these challenges that bring the best out of us. They may appear a bit embarrassing and nagging, and at times irritating and quite annoying too. But they are actually an opportunity in disguise. How is it so? Let us take these 2 examples from The Mahabharata and evaluate them.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.
The Pandavas, having lost the game of dice with the Kauravas, went to live in the forest for thirteen years. During the course of their life in the forests, they faced innumerable challenges. They took every challenge in their stride, faced them boldly, learnt their lessons, and became stronger and better.

Arjuna wanted to acquire new weapons from devas and went to Himalayas to practise austerities and do penance to obtain the grace of Siva. In order to test Arjuna, Siva challenged him in the disguise of a hunter. Arjuna accepted the challenge and engaged himself in a battle with the hunter. Arjuna gave his best and fought tooth and nail, but he was overcome and defeated. Then he could realise that the hunter was none other than Siva, an fell at his feet seeking forgiveness. Siva blessed him will all the weapons including the all powerful 'Pasupata.'

Around the same time, the other Pandavas and Draupadi were living in the forest of Narayanasrama in the Himalayas. One day, Draupadi came across a beautiful flower with a sweet smell. She liked it so much that she wanted to have more of them. She immediately requested Bhima to bring more of them. Bhima went into the forest in search of the plant having such flowers. On his way, he saw a monkey blocking his path. Bhima shouted at it to frighten the animal to leave the place and give him the way. But the monkey told Bhima that he was unable to move as he was very old, but challenged him that he could make his way, if he moved his tail away from the path. Bhima thought he could do it effortlessly, but despite all of his efforts and using all of this strength, he could not move the tail of the monkey.

Bhima soon understood that the animal was no ordinary creature and realised his mistake. He then showed utmost respect and asked for forgiveness. He felt very much blessed to learn that the monkey was none other than the great Hanuman, who later gently took him into his hands and embraced him. With that divine embrace, Bhima became much stronger and powerful.

Both Bhima and Arjuna faced the challenges that were beyond their capability. But, they gave their best. The put in their best efforts. In the end they not only realised themselves but also gained extra powers.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The challenges may appear to be painful and troubling, and sometimes belittling too. Avoiding them is in no way a solution. Rather, facing them bravely will help bring the best out of us in the first place. If we overcome the challenge successfully by accomplishing the desired task, it is well and good. Even if we fail to deliver, we would have the satisfaction of giving our best. And that would save us from the pain of regret at least. If someone is challenging you at home or in the office, think positively and take it as an opportunity for you. The next time, if someone or something is challenging you, be grateful, in stead of feeling bitter. It is better for you. Indeed!

To your SUCCESS,
With love and regards,
Siva

Unstoppable Updates from Siva (23): LOTUS lives and blossoms irrespective of its surroundings

Hi,
Have you observed a lotus flower any time? I know you might have seen it. I did see a lot of them in my childhood. There were plenty of them in the pond in the village where I was born and brought up. I was fond of them very much. I used to pick them up from the pond, especially on the day of Ganesh Chaturdhi to use it for pooja purpose, and once I was almost drowned attempting to pick the one deeper and farther from the bund. But I was always enamoured of beauty, structure, and colours of this divine flower.

But today, when I stumbled upon this image of LOTUS, I observed it for the first time. I took a deeper look at it, went into my own imagination, and started understanding more from it. And, I became awestruck as it revealed one message of inspiration after another. Let me share with you one of them today.
Look at it. Where is it born? Its seed is thrown into murky waters and a muddy soil. But, it does not remain there. It sprouts and takes its root there, and grows up through the water, spreads its leaves on the surface of the water. Its flower comes out of the water as a pointed bud and unfolds itself sepal by sepal, petal by petal, and reveals its beauty to the world, and makes the very murky surroundings more beautiful than ever. What an elegance this flower has! What an attitude it displays! It tells the world, "I know my circumstances are not clean, pure, and pleasant. I can not do away with them. As I have to live with them, I don't see them anymore as a disadvantage. I rather take advantage of them and make them support me, my life, and my growth." And, it does.

Who in this world is surrounded by only all that is conducive, comfortable, and cooperative always? Is there anyone who is not encountered with negative circumstances? Everyone does. Everyone goes through. Each person has a separate set of circumstances. There is no need to feel let down and blame the surroundings. The challenge is to face the situation and deal with it. Just as the lotus rises above all the odds and make itself and its own surroundings more beautiful, we too can rise above the negativity that surrounds us and successfully unleash our hidden talents to make the world a better place to live.

To your success,
With love,
Siva

This 13th sloka of VSNS has 9 names of lord Vishnu presented in it. They are listed below;

115) rudrah (रुद्रः) (రుద్రః)
116) bahuSiraah (बहुशिराः) (బహుశిరాః)
117) babhruh  (बभ्रुः) (బభ్రుః)
118) viSvayonih (विश्वयोनिः) (విశ్వయోనిః)
119) SuchiSravaah (सुचिश्रवाः) (శుచిశ్రవాః)
120) amrutah (अमृतः) (అమృతః)
121) SaaSvatasthaaNuh (शाश्वतस्थाणुः) (శాశ్వతస్థాణుః)
122) varaarohah (वरारोहः) (వరారోహః)
123) mahatapaah (महातपाः) (మహతపాః)

Their meanings are presented below:

nama no. 115) rudrah (रुद्रः) (రుద్రః)
om rudraaya namah  (ओं रुद्राय नमः)  (ఓం రుద్రాయ నమః)
The word 'rudra' has its source in 'rodayatitirudrah' - which means 'making one have tears in eyes.'

It must be understood that tears are shed not only because of sadness, but also sometimes due to extreme happiness. The paramaatma makes people have such 'tears of happiness' giving them his divine appearance. Hence, He is called rudrah.

nama no. 116) bahuSiraah (बहुशिराः) (బహుశిరాః)
om bahuSirase namah  (ओं बहुशिरसे नमः)  (ఓం బహుశిరసే నమః)
bahu = many, several; Siras = head; bahuSiraa = many heads

As He has many heads with thousands of hoods, He has this nama bahuSiraah.

It may be understood that Sri Maha Vishnu, in the form of aadiseshu has thousands of hoods in order to bear the weight of the earth.

nama no. 117) babhruh (बभ्रुः) (బభ్రుః)
om babhrave namah  (ओं बभ्रवे नमः)  (ఓం బభ్రవే  నమః)
The word babhru means 'one who is wearing, having as a covering.'

The earlier nama 'bahusiraah' revealed God's wearing of a thousand hoods in the form of a giant snake. Also, as He bears the earth on those hoods, he is referred to with the nama babhru.

nama no. 118) viSvayonih ( विश्वयोनिः) (విశ్వయోనిః)
om viSwayonaye namah  (ओं विश्वयोनये नमः)  (ఓం విశ్వయోనయే నమః)
viSveshaam yonih = viSvayonih

visvam = universe, all in all, everything, everyone; yu = mixture, unifying

In essence, this nama viSvayonih means that He has a relationship with the entire world of His devotees; protecting them as though He is having them in his lap.

This nama appears again as nama no. 151.

nama no. 119) SuchiSravaah (सुचिश्रवाः) (శుచిశ్రవాః)
om SuchiSravase namah  (ओं शुचिश्रवसे नमः)  (ఓం శుచిశ్రవసే నమః)
Sucheeni SRiNoteeti = SuchiSravaah

Suchi = clean, pure, divine; SravaNam = listening

He is called SuchiSravaah as He lends His ears and listens with interest the pure, divine words of His devotees. He is always there to listen to the melodious renderings of His devotees.

nama no. 120) amrutah (अमृतः) (అమృతః)
om amrutaaya namah  (ओं अमृताय नमः)  (ఓం అమృతాయ నమః)
As paramaatma has also got the 3 properties that amrut - the divine nectar has got, He is called amrutah.

Amrit has these 3 properties: 1) unlimited sweetness, 2) no ageing & no death for those who consume it, and 3) desire to have it more and more of it, despite enjoying any amount of it. As Lord Vishnu also makes His devotees feel the enormous sweetness of Him, gets them rid of ageing and death, and has their desire for Him unsatisfied despite their having Him, He is called amritah.

nama no. 121) SaaSvatasthaaNuh (शाश्वतस्थाणुः) (శాశ్వతస్థాణుః)
om SaaSvatasthaNave namah  (ओं शाश्वतस्थाणवे नमः)  (ఓం శాశ్వతస్థాణవే నమః)
This nama SaaSvatsstaaNuh is a combination of 2 words: SaaSvata (permanent, eternal) and aNuh (atomic, a small fraction, minuscule) describing that the sweetness of amrut (as revealed by the earlier nama amrutah) is only a small fraction of that of the paramaatma and that His anugraham to His devotees is permanent while amrut is not.

The reference of earlier nama of amrutah is that way relevant in order to highlight the significance and greatness of the paramaatma.

nama no. 122) varaarohah (वरारोहः) (వరారోహః)
om varaarohaaya namah  (ओं वरारोहाय नमः)  (ఓం వరారోహాయ నమః)
vara = The best of all; aroha = obtainment; attainment

The last two namas amrutah and SaaSvatasthaaNuh revealed that Lord Vishnu stays with His devotees without leaving them and also highlighted the sweetness of His anugraham which is tastier than the amrut. That's why, this nama vararoahah suggests that attainment of God's blessings is the best of all as compared with the results of any other types of activities.

nama no. 123) mahatapaah (महातपाः) (మహతపాః)
om mahaatapase namah  (ओं महातपसे नमः)  (ఓం మహాతపసే నమః)
The word tapah means 'knowledge' or the one who has immense knowledge. in the present context, it refers to the knowledge of withdrawing the universe at the time of mahapralaya. As paramaatma has such knowledge of the origin of the mahapralaya and also the capability of withdrawing universe into Him at that time, He is called mahatapaah.

Unstoppable Updates (22) : Its not your roots, but your realisation of self that leads you to your greatness

Hi,
This morning, as my mind pondered over randomly, a sudden flash of a little boy's face rushed through it. He is the one I met yesterday in the nearby weekly mandi where I went to buy vegetables. He was helping his father from whom I was buying vegetables. I asked him for his name, and he said "Manikantha" with a glitter in his face. I liked his smile and the speed at which he responded. I became curious to learn more about this 10-year old boy and asked him further about his school, the class in which he was studying, etc. I saw a sparkle in his smile and a twinkle in his eyes every time he answered, and felt that this child would be a STAR some day. I completed my purchases and returned home. But the boy still remained in my thoughts.

I started wondering whether this boy knows what he has in him, and what a great person he could possibly become. Then, as a divine instruction, it occurred to me as Valmiki, the great saint and the author of the great Indian epic 'The Ramayana,' came into my thoughts. And, I said to myself, "Why not Manikantha, if Valmiki could make it?' I started singing aloud these lyrics of a movie song that revealed the transformation of Valmiki, "ఆ శోకంలో ఒక శ్లోకం పలికే, ఆ చీకటి ఎదలో దీపం వెలిగే" (out of that misery, came our a melody; in that dark heart, a light was lit). Who was this Valmiki to begin with, and what was the transformation he underwent?

Valmiki was born in a family of sages as Ratnakar, but destiny took him to a family of robbers. He was brought up as a hunter and a robber. He lived his early life indulging in robbery and doing sinful evil deeds. But, his life suddenly changed for good with his accidental encounter with the great sage Narada, who helped him with the self-realisation which took him to years of penance and austerities that ultimately made him a great saint. He was thereafter referred to with his acquired name VALMIKI - the man with an ant-hill around his body. On one of his outings in the forest near his hermitage, he was touched by the death of a bird hit by a hunter and moved so much that he cursed the hunter spontaneously using a bi-liner in sanskrit - a slokam. And that was the first slokam ever said, and that is how he came to be known also as aadikavi, which means the first poet in sanskrit. He was later instructed by Brahma to compose the epic poem 'The Ramayana' blessing him with the power of vision to be able to see all the incidents of Ramayana and the secrets associated with it. Thus came the epic Ramayana into existence.

What a transformation? A robber into a great saint and an epic composer!! Why not? He did it. If he could do it, why not you and me in our own chosen areas of work? And, why not Manikantha? It does not matter where you are born or how you are brought up. What matters is what you believe in yourself and what you want to become. You too are blessed as much as Valimiki was blessed with, and perhaps much more. You gotta realise yourself and the enormous potential you are blessed with. The time is NOW. Go for it...Go for your greatness...NOW is the time to take the next step forward.

By the way, Manikantha is coming home this afternoon. I requested his father to bring the child, and he agreed. Wav, it's going to be a conversation that I want to learn more about Manikantha and in the process help him learn more about himself and the great future that lies ahead of him.

To your success,
With love and regards,
Siva

Monday Motivation for Success from Siva (MMFS-31): Your Perspective is Transforming Your Life on Earth; YES, 100%

Hi,
Perspective is the angle at which you look at an issue or a matter or a person. And, that varies from person to person. Let us read this sentence "OPPORTUNITYISNOWHERE." For one, it may be "Opportunity is no where" and for someone else, it could be "Opportunity is now here."

The two perspectives are world apart. The first one was perhaps too quick and too impatient to make the sentence while the latter perhaps took a little longer time and a little deeper look at all the available letters before drawing a conclusion. The same thing which brings on anger to someone might become a source of delight for someone else.

For someone walking on the shore, the vast ocean may appear as a dull and dreary sea of sorrow, while for someone else it might look like a bubbling beauty that roars relentlessly with its rising and receding tides. It all depends on PERSPECTIVE. Let us take a look at this beautiful Hanuman and his perspective of Rama and see how it is different from that of others..
-----------------------------------------------------------
Your PERSPECTIVE is Transforming Your Life on Earth; Yes, 100%
Rama was a great king of Ayodhya. He was a truthful person who respected his father's word and upheld the promises he made. He was a great warrior and the most powerful archer who brought down the dangerous demons and killed wicked rakshasas. He was so strong and powerful that he alone could lift and string the 'Bow of Shiva" which no one else could even move. He was also the most respected by the saints and sadhus including viswamitra, vashishtha, and Valmiki. He was loved by all, including his wife Sita, brothers Lakshmana, Bharata, and Satrughna, and his parents, and all the people of his kingdom of Ayodhya. He ruled his kingdom so perfectly that brought joy, peace and prosperity to all people that it became a symbol of good governance - Ramarajayam. This was the perspective of all the people. This is how people looked at him those days. Even now, people say that Rama was an ordinary king who became a god by virtue of his good deeds and virtues. But, there was one whose perspective of Rama was totally different from that of the above.

And, that was Hanuman. He never saw Rama as a king or a warrior, as a good ruler or a kind hearted person, as a great leader or a mighty fighter, as a truth lover or a promise keeper. For Hanuman, Rama was just a god and only god to whom he surrendered totally and dedicated all his life in his prayer, worship, and service.  For him, nothing else existed except Rama. His body, mind, and soul were filled with Rama. He always wanted to serve him, to praise, him, and to worship him as a devout devotee. Thus he became Ramabhakt Hanuman. And now in every temple wherever Rama is worshipped, his bhakt Hanuman is also worshipped.

Beware of your perspectives, They are either making your life or breaking it. They have power to transform your life into a beautiful journey or a miserable ride. They can bring joy and delight to you or misery and hopelessness.  Perspectives are made by choice, your own choices.  Only you have the control on your choices; no one else, Choose your perspectives wisely. There is a heaven on the earth. Your perspective can show you the way. Yes, 100%.

To your SUCCESS,
