namam no. 237) dharaNeedharah (धरणीधरः) (ధరణీధరః)

om dharanaNeedharaaya namah (ओं धरणीधराय नमः) (ఓం ధరణీధరాయ నమః)

The word 'dharaNi' refers to the 'earth' that supports all living entities. As even that earth was born by Him, He is called dharaNeedharah.

When HiraNyaaksha folded the earth like a mat and threw it at the bottom of the ocean, Sri Maha Vishnu, in varaaharoopa, killed him and brought the earth up.

This namam thus suggests that He bears not only the earth and the higher world but also the space in between.

om namo bhagavate vasudevaya!
