namam no. 355) mahaakshah (महाक्षः) (మహాక్షః)

aum mahaakshaaya namah (ओं महाक्षाय नमः) (ఓం మహాక్షాయ నమః)

mahaa = great; aksha = axis

He is called mahaakshah as He has got a great aksha. The axis of a vehicle is called an aksha. Just as an axis supports the vehicle and its driver and others it carries on it, here the word aksha refers to the vehicle of god, the garuda. The word aksha also means a thing that can be worshipped.

As the paramaatma has the divine garuda as his vehicle, He is called mahaakshah.

aum namo bhagavate vasudevaya!
