Are you doing your work in the first place? If you do not do what you are supposed to do for yourself, nobody would come to your rescue. So, you must first do what can do for yourself. Then everything will fall in place naturally. If you do not do what you should, and wait for some luck to happen or pray to god for getting your work done and do nothing about it, it is never going to happen. So, help yourself first by doing what you think you should and you can do. Then the whole universe will respond positively. Because, god helps those who help themselves.
