namam no. 289) jagatassetuh (जगतसेतुः) (జగతస్సేతుః)

aum jagatassetave namah (ओं जगतसेतवे नमः) (ఓం జగతస్సేతవే నమః)

He is called jagatah setuh because He differentiates the two kinds of people, the good and the bad without mixing them up and rewards them suitably.

This world is filled with the pious as well as the wicked people. In this namam, the word jagat refers to such a world that is mixed up with these people. In such a world, the paramaatma is like a barrier. That means, He sees that people get the rewards according to their karma in such a way that the rewards of good actions are not gone to the bad and that the results of bad actions are not attached to the good. That is why He is called setuh.

aum namo bhagavate vasudevaya!
