namam no. 293) paavanah (पावनः) (పావనః)

aum paavanaaya namah (ओं पावनाय नमः) (ఓం పావనాయ నమః)

He is known as paavanah as He sanctified with His touch the Ganga and other rivers such that they have the power of purifying all the worlds.

Just because of His touch, sanctity is attributed to the Ganga, the fire, and other others. Like Vishnu, Lakshmi Devi also has this kind of natural sanctity.

aum namo bhagavate vasudevaya!
