L & D Series - Post 2: How do you go about training people in an organisation?

Given below are the steps that could be followed while going about training people in your organisation:


1) Firstly, your organisation ought to understand and appreciate the value of getting the people working in the organisation trained.

2) Then, you have to identify the training needs of the people working in different functions/departments.

3) Chalk out a "Training Calendar" and roll it out.
You can take the help of a professional trainer to work with you in the whole process of training need assessment and preparation of training calendar, and its implementation.

4) Collect feedback at the end of each of the training workshops, especially on what the participants learned from the program and how they would like to use it in their day-to-day work.

5) Help the participants draw their action plans for their further improvement and utilisation of the learning gained from the program.

6) Follow it up with a review and make a check if the participants actually utilised the learning made from the program or not.


Going by this process, your organisation could get maximum mileage out of the investments it makes in training its people.
