--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This 5th sloka of VSNS has 9 names of lord Vishnu presented in it. They are listed below:
37) svayambhuuh (स्वयम्भूः(స్వయంభూః)
38) Sambhuh (शम्भुः(శంభుః)
39) aadityah (आदित्यः(ఆదిత్యః)
40) pushkaraakhah (पुश्कराक्षः(పుష్కరాక్షః)
41) mahaasvanah (महास्वनः) (మహాస్వనః)
42) anaadinidhanah (अनादिनिधनः) (అనాదినిధనః)
43) dhaataa (धाता) (ధాతా)
44) vidhaataa (विधाता) (విధాతా)
45) dhaaturuttamah (धातुरुत्तमः) (ధాతురుత్తమః)

Their meanings are presented below:

nama no. 37) svayambhuuh (स्वयम्भूः) (స్వయంభూః)
om svayambhuve namah (ओं स्वयम्भुवे नमः) (ఓం స్వయంభువే నమః)
This nama 'svayambhu' provides the answer to the question, "How does paramaatmah possess such a great glory and power even during the times of His avataaraas?" The reason for all of His avataaras is His own desire and decision, and not due to any orders received by Him from anyone above. He is not born like the humans and devataas who obtain their birth as influenced by their karma. He can take His avataaraas whenever He wants by His own decision (sva-sankalpam).

nama no. 38) Sambhuh (शम्भुः) (శంభుః)
om sambhave namah (ओं शम्भवे नमः) (ఓం శంభవే నమః)
He is called 'sambhu' because of His ability to provide joy and happiness to His devotees with a glimpse of His bodily appearance and also through the expression of His nature of good character, in all of His incarnations.

The words 'sam' means 'happiness' and 'bhavati' the one who provides it. Hence, the name 'sambhu.'

The Lord is beautiful not only because of His external appearance but also due to His inner features like His kindness, His courage, and His overall character. Valimiki describes in Ramayana at several instances how beautiful Rama was and How His beauty and character made people feel very much happy and joyful in their hearts.

nama no.39. aadityah (आदित्यः) (ఆదిత్యః)
om aadityaayah (ओं आदित्याय नमः) (ఓం ఆదిత్యాయ నమః)
This nama 'aaditya' reveals that the divine appearance of Srimannarayana located in the centre of solar system can be taken an example of the incarnations of the lord described by the earlier nama 'svayambhu.'  It is indicating the meaning of not only the 'sun' but also that He is the one 'located in the centre of the solar system.'

The lord's incarnations and their glorious purposes were revealed in the earlier namas. This nama 'aaditya' also shows that it can be taken as an example of His many incarnations in which He attracts His devotees with the beauty of His divine bodily appearance. That is the lord's aakaara as existing in the solar system. There is one divine purusha in the solar system. He sits there in a lotus posture. He wears a crown on his head, diamond necklaces, and sankhu and chakra on His shoulders. He has a body the brightness of which is yellowish, glowing like gold.

it is suggested that one should visualize such a divine personality of the lord as existent in the centre of the solar system at the time of morning prayers to the lord.

nama no. 40) pushkaraakshah (पुश्कराक्षः) (పుష్కరాక్షః)
om pushkaraakshaaya namah (ओं पुष्कराक्षाय नमः) (ఓం పుష్కరాక్షాయ నమః)
The nama 'pushkaraksha' means the 'one who has lotus-like eyes. Scriptures explain the red, wide and lotus-shaped eyes as the feature of a 'mahapurusha.' The nama 'pushkaraksha' is a synonym of the word 'pundarikaakaksha.'

nama no.41) mahaasvanah (महास्वनः) (మహాస్వనః)
om mahaasvanaaya namah (ओं महास्वनाय नमः) (ఓం మహాస్వనాయ నమః)
While the previous nama 'pushkaraksha' is related to His appearance, this nama 'mahasvanah' reveals the glory of His name. The words mahan = respected, great, svanah = name, and yasyasah = possessing. The vedas, the saints and the rishis described Him through several different names based on His glory and impact.

This nama 'mahasvanah' thus reveals that the paramatma's richness is not just signified by His external appearance, but also by several names.

nama no.42) anaadinidhanah (अनादिनिधनः) (అనాదినిధనః)
om anaadinidhanaaya namah (ओं अनादिनिधनाय नमः) (ఓం అనాదినిధనాయ నమః)
As 'aadi' the birth, and 'nidhana,' the death don't exist for Him, the nama 'anaadinidhanah' suggests that the lord Vishu is eternal.

According to scriptures, the jeeva that doesn't have a relationship with the body is also said to be eternal. Then why is this nama 'anaadinidhanah' is attributed to the lord? Because, just like to divine aatmah, His body is also eternal. Along with Him, His divine body is also attributed with permanence, unnaturalness, purity, and truthfulness. There are several instances that exemplified the lord's body as ever youthful, bright, and shining with beauty, grace, and character.

nama no. 43) dhaataa (धाता) (ధాతా)
om dhaatre namah (ओं धात्रे नमः) (ఓం ధాత్రే నమః)
The nama 'dhaata' illustrates the special nature of narayana as the 'root/source of all the creation.' He is the first creator. He first created the brahma from the lotus that emanated from his navel, then taught him the principles of the vedas, gave him some treasure of beings, and ordained him to create life in all the lokas.

Thus, the power of the first and primary creation is only possessed by the lord narayana.

nama no. 44) vidhaataa (विधाता) (విధాతా)
om vidhaatre namah (ओं विधात्रे नमः) (ఓం విధాత్రే నమః)
The nama no 43 'dhaata' explained earlier revealed narayana as the one who presented the 'womb of life treasure' in the beginning of the creation. Since narayana is also the one who created brahma by effecting maturity to that womb, He is called 'vidhaata.' Some people think that brahma is the root source of all creation. This nama 'vidhaata' however suggests that there is someone else who is the reason for the birth of that brahma itself, and that is narayana.

The world considers the trinity - brahma, vishnu, and maheswara - as the first of all creation. But, even among these three, the first is the blue-bodied srimannarayana, as revealed by this nama 'vidhaata.' He is the first among the firsts.

nama no. 45) dhaaturuttamah (धातुरुत्तमः) (ధాతురుత్తమః)
om dhaaturuttamaaya namah (ओं धातुरुत्तमाय नमः) (ఓం ధాతురుత్తమాయ నమః)
dhaatuh = compared to Brahma; uttamah = greater, better; dhaaturuttamah = better (greater) than Brahma.

This nama dhaaturuttamah thus means that Vishnu is greater than Brahma, who is called 'dhaata' by the people. It also means that when He is greater than Brahma, He is also greater than all those created by Brahma including the nine planets, Indra and the other devataas.

om namo narayanaya!
