This 18th sloka of VSNS has 10 names of lord Vishnu presented in it. The names and their meanings are presented below:

165) vedyah (वेद्यः) (వేద్యః )
166) vaidyah (वैद्यः) (వైద్యః)
167) ssadaayogee (स्सादायोगी) (స్సదాయొగీ)
168) veerahaa (वीरहा) (వీరహా)
169) maadhavah (माधवः) (మాధవః)
170) madhuh (मधुः) (మధుః)
171) ateendriyah (अतीन्द्रियः) (అతీంద్రియః)
172) mahaamaayah (महामायः) (మహామాయః)
173) mahotsaahah (महोत्साहः) (మహొత్సాహః)
174) mahaabalah (महाबलः) (మహాబలః)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
165) vedyah (वेद्यः) (వేద్యః)
om vedyaaya namah  (ओं वेद्याय नमः)  (ఓం వేద్యాయ నమః)
This nama vedyah means that He is the one who can be known to all but not that easily.

Though paramaatma is the one who created the whole universe and remained closer to everyone by existing in every atom of it, who would know about him, if He had not disclosed His influence and impact?

Through many of His avatars, He became knowable to all.

166) vaidyah (वैद्यः) (వైద్యః)
om vaidyaaya namah  (ओं वैद्याय नमः)  (ఓం వైద్యాయ నమః)
Paramaatma is a great physician. The worst of all the diseases is that of emotion and attachment. There is not other than the god who can cure this illness. Even Brahma and other devas were also sufferers of such illness.

Thus He is called vaidyah as He has not only learnt the knowledge of suppressing such illnesses of samsara but also grasped how to use it.

167) sadaayogee (सदायोगी) (సదాయోగీ)
om sadaayogine namah  (ओं सदायोगिने नमः)  (ఓం సదాయోగినే నమః)
He is called sadaayogee as He protects at all times His devotees who are affected with the illness of samsara and attachment.

'yoga' means 'idea;' sadaayogee means having relevant ideas at all times (without any neglect for countering the illness).

168) veerahaa (वीरहा) (వీరహా)
om veeraghne namah (ओं वीरघ्ने नमः)  (ఓం వీరఘ్నే నమః)
There are people who understand the essence and influence of god and become his devotees by virtue of their good fortune or their good brought-up.  There are also some people who do not believe in god, and try to argue with the devotees and harass them, as if it is their work. As paramaatma disables and destroys such athiests during his different avatars, He is called by the nama veerah.

169) maadhavah (माधवः) (మాధవః)
om maadhave namah  (ओं माधवे नमः)  (ఓం మాధవే నమః)
The word 'maa' means the divine learning that is used as a saadhana (tool) to worship SriHari; and 'dhava' means the lord.

As He is the lord who teaches us the knowledge required for worshipping Him, He is called maadhavah.

He is the first teacher (pradhamaachaarya) who taught the main mantras such as ashtaakshari that are used to learn about paramaatma and also to worship Him.

170) madhuh (मधुः) (మధుః)
om madhave namah  (ओं मधवे नमः)  (ఓం మధవే నమః)
The word 'madhu' means honey or the nectar that flows from the flowers. As He tastes like the nectar to those who worship Him, He is called madhuh.

When His devotees worship Him, He gets enjoyed by them as the most tasteful thing to them. Isn't anything of Vishnu very tasteful? Whether it is chanting His namas or listening to His stories, or meditating on Him, or His archanaas, or any part of His divine roopam?

171) ateendriyah (अतीन्द्रियः) (అతీంద్రియః)
om ateendriyaaya namah  (ओं अतीन्द्रियाय नमः)  (ఓం అతీంద్రియాయ నమః)
Though all the qualities of Lord Vishnu are adorable, the six qualities (shadgunaas) of Him including gnana, bala, aishwarya and others are very important. They are not pertaining to His body, but to His aatma. Hence, they are not visible.

Thus, the nama ateendriyah reveals His aatma that is most difficult to perceive through ordinary senses of ours.

172) mahaamaayah (महामायः) (మహామాయః)
om mahaamaayaaya namah  (ओं महामायाय नमः)  (ఓం మహామాయాయ నమః)
Lord Vishnu is a big magician!!! This nama mahaamaayah reveals the reason behind the meaning of the earlier nama attendriyah.

Because of the maaya, people, however great they are, .can not recognise Him. The maaya is like big veil that makes it difficult to perceive Him.

173) mahotsaahah (महोत्साहः) (మహొత్సాహః)
om mahotsaaya namah  (ओं महोत्साय नमः)  (ఓం మహొత్సాయ నమః)
The namas from 173 to 178 reveal the 6 qualities of Vishnu (shatgunaas) that are there in Him in full. This nama mahotsaahah reveals the quaility of enthusiasm. This enthusiasm is the trait that makes creating and controlling of the whole universe by Him possible.

174) mahaabalah (महाबलः) (మహాబలః)
om mahaabalaaya namah  (ओं महाबलाय नमः)  (ఓం మహాబలాయ నమః)
He is called mahaabalah as he has the greatest strength. This trait is one of the shatgunaas.

The mountains are bearing the soil. The vaayu is bearing the sky and stars. The earth is bearing the entire jeevaraasi. Do we have to say how much strength the lord who bears all of these things put together has?

om namo naraayanaaya!
