Nama No. 183) maheshvaasah (महेष्वासः) (మహేష్వాసః)
om maheshvaasaaya namah (ओं महेष्वासाया नमः) (ఓం మహేష్వాసాయ నమః)
ishu + aasa = ishvaasa, which means 'shooting an arrow'; mahaan = great
Thus, this nama maheshvaasah means that He has an amazing ability of shooting arrows. That could be seen during his avatar as Rama. That was very much visible a number of times including i) when he felled 7 mahasaala trees by shooting a single arrow through all of them at one time; ii) when he shot the agneyaastra and overpowered the ocean and forced it to give way to the vanaras who were building the bridge to Lanka; and iii) when he faced Ravana on the day one of the battle, he shot the arrows at such a great speed, Ravana could not comprehend how the shower of arrows from Rama was hitting him and his chariot. Before Ravana could realise, his bow was broken and his chariot was made into pieces.
om namo bhagavate vasudevaya!
