om gurutamaayagurave namah (ओं गुरुत्तमायागुरवे नमः) (ఓం గురుతమాయగురవే నమః)
From here, we get to learn about the matsyaavataaram namams. He is called 'guruh' as He is the first teacher and ultimate teacher of all the learning contained in the vedas.
As even the sages and the devatas also obtained their learning of the vedas from the matsyaavataaram-swamy, He has become the guru of the gurus - gurutamah guruh ( गुरुत्तमः गुरुः) (గురుతమః గురుః).
