Today is a special day. A miracle unfolds today! The devatas descend on to the earth. People gather at one place in millions. They are all on one mission! They want to see the god. They rejoice his outing. They travel with him. They want to touch him, praise him, pull him, and they forget themselves in the whole process on this day every year. According to Hindu Calendar, today is aashaadh maas, shukla paksha, dvitiya tidhi (2nd day of the waxing phase of the moon in the month of aashaadh). Today, lord Jagannatha comes out of his temple in Puri. he goes on his journey from Shree Mandir to Gundicha Mandir on his chariot. It is called 'The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.'
It is a sight to see to believe it. I was there for the Rath Yatra the last 2 years. You can see the colour of the ocean changing as the devatas descend on to the earth. The road in front of the temple keeps getting flooded with people as the day begins and people start coming to the temple and take their positions along the 3 KM stretch on which the chariots of Lord Jagannatha and his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra move. By about noon, as the preparations for the yatra are completed, the road is so much filled with people that it looks like a ocean of people. No where else on the earth, you can get to see a task of this magnitude in which more than a million people put their heart and soul to accomplish it in a day. It is called 'The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.'
It is the day on which the king himself comes out and cleans the chariots with a broom, killing his ego and bowing in front of god. And, people surrender totally to god. They lose themselves in the joy of praising the lord, as they chant 'hare krsna hare krsna krsna krsna hare hare, hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare' and dance on the streets and lead the procession. It is the day on which the age means nothing, when you can see the people of all ages, the children, the youth, and the old all trying to do the same thing - pulling the chariot of lord Jagannath. Everyone is one and the same. There is no barrier of caste, creed, or religion or nationality or gender. All are one and God is one. It is the day of 'The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.'
The Rath yatra's also happen in other towns and villages across the state of Orissa, India, and all over the world wherever the temples of lord jagannath are there. I will be going to the Jagannath temple and participating in the Rath Yatra here in Hyderabad today. If there is a Rath Yatra happening wherever you are, you can go and experience the joy of being a part of it today. If you don't have such an opportunity, you can watch the Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra telecast live on TV all over the world. The links to the live streaming are given below. In case you miss the opportunity of watching it on TV today, you can come back and watch it on youtube or some of the sites that upload the video of the entire Rath Yatra. Don't miss it. Somehow, get the opportunity to see it. You will witness today the unfolding of the miracle - 'The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.'
To your unstoppable SUCCESS,
With love and regards,
Siva
