aum vishnave namah (ओं विष्णवे नमः) (ఓం విష్నవే నమః)
Thus He is called vishnuh as He takes care of His devotees without allowing any dangers to them by expanding Himself in all directions.
Here the expanse of god refers to His being with His devotees without leaving them.
