namam no. 369) daamodarah (दामोदरः) (దామోదరః)

aum daamodaraaya namah (ओं दामोदराय नमः) (ఓం దామోదరాయ నమః)

The word 'damam' means 'loka.'

He is called damodarah as He kept all the lokas in His stomach at the time of the pralaya.

The word damam also suggests pleasure, happiness, joy, etc. Hence, this namam also means that He reveals His happiness to His devotees.

According to Vishnu puraana, He is called damodarah as he was tied to the grinding mortar with a rope by Yashoda.

aum namo bhagavate vasudevaya!
