aum maheedharaaya namah (ओं महीधराय नमः) (ఓం మహీధరాయ నమః)

He is called maheedharah as He facilitated by reducing the burden of the earth through the destruction of the evil as revealed in his avataars of Rama, Krishna, and others.

He revealed it Himself in the Bhagavadgita that in order to protect the good, destroy the evil, and establish dharma in the world, He facilitated the destruction of the kshudraas and reduced the burden of the earth.

Happy New Year '2017': Take Action (8)

Hi,

"Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it."Jack Canfield

You may have all the knowledge and the best of the skills, and also the most positive of attitudes and the strongest of beliefs. But if you just sit there without taking any action towards getting things done, nothing is going to happen. Action is the key to all success. Take action...NOW.

To Your Success,
With love,

Siva

namam no. 370) sahah (सहः) (సహః)

aum sahaaya namah (ओं सहाय नमः) (ఓం సహాయ నమః)

He is said to be sahah as He tolerates when His devotees give Him punishments such as tying to a mortar, reprimanding, scaring, etc as was done by Yashoda during His Krishnaavataar.

Though He is the god of all, in order to experience the love and devotion of the devotees, He takes an avatar, provokes them, makes them angry, and tolerates all the pains associated with the punishments given to Him.

aum namo bhagavate vasudevaya!

namam no. 369) daamodarah (दामोदरः) (దామోదరః)

aum daamodaraaya namah (ओं दामोदराय नमः) (ఓం దామోదరాయ నమః)

The word 'damam' means 'loka.'

He is called damodarah as He kept all the lokas in His stomach at the time of the pralaya.

The word damam also suggests pleasure, happiness, joy, etc. Hence, this namam also means that He reveals His happiness to His devotees.

According to Vishnu puraana, He is called damodarah as he was tied to the grinding mortar with a rope by Yashoda.

aum namo bhagavate vasudevaya!

L & D Series - Post 6: KNOWLEDGE, The 3rd of the 3 Areas for Improvement

Hi,
Let us look at the KNOWLEDGE, the 3rd aspect of the "Areas For Improvement" in this post.

What kind of knowledge and how much should you possess to be successful at what you do? First of all, the knowledge of the domain you are operating in. Then, the specific knowledge that enables you do your work with quality and meet the expectations of the organisation you are working for. It could be specific technical knowledge or the knowledge of the needs of the market or the knowledge of customers, knowledge of the products and services you are offering.

While you may begin your career with the minimum basic knowledge, it should be your endeavour to improve it on a daily basis. You should be asking yourself at the end of everyday this question, "Have I improved my knowledge today? What have I learned today?" The information is now available at your fingertips. All that you need to have is the intent to learn and improve your knowledge.

Happy New Year '2017': Be Kind (6)

Hi,

"Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind."Henry James

Be kind to others, to your parents, to your children, to your superiors and subordinates, to your colleagues and coworkers, clients and customers. Also, be kind to yourself as much as you are to others. You deserve it. Take god care of yourself, your health and wellness. You deserve a better quality life in the New Year.

To Your Success,
With love,

Siva

namam no. 368) hetuh (हेतुः) (హేతుః)

aum hetave namah (ओं हेतवे नमः) (ఓం హేతవే నమః)

He is called hetuh as He is the reason for the devotees getting that kind of devotion towards Him and later giving them the fruits of such devotion.

The words 'hetuh' and 'reason' are synonyms.

He is not just the reason for giving the fruits of devotion. He is also the source giving His devotees the required power of devotion as revealed by this  'hetu' namam.

It means that He is the reason, the cause, and the source of all deeds.

L & D Series - Post 5: SKILLS, The 2nd of the 3 Areas for Improvement,

Hi,
Let us look at the 2nd of the 3 areas for improvement, The SKILLS in this post.

Skills are the capacities that enable you to perform, capabilities that could help you excel at a job, traits that empower you to produce results, and qualities that generate outcomes of value. There are different skills for different jobs. One need not possess all the skills, but ought to possess the skills that are required by the job that one is handling. Hence, skills are work-specific. That is the most crucial point to be noted with reference to skill you possess. Is there an alignment and a match between the skills you possess and the skills your job demands from you? There is no point in possessing skills that could be of great value for one job, but not having the skills required by the job you are doing. Your skill sets must be in line with those required by the job you do.

Hence, it is important to identify in the first place what are the skills you are required to possess to perform at your best in the profession you are pursuing. Then, you need to do a self analysis and take stock of your skill sets in order to identify the gaps in your skills sets that you need to fill in through proper training.

Then comes the question about types of skills and what they are. They can be broadly categorised into 1) Soft Skills and 2) Hard Skills. There are many other types of nomenclature used for categorising skills. But let us not get bogged down by the nomenclature. Here is the basic difference between the Soft Skills and Hard Skills. Hard skills are specific, teachable abilities that can be defined and measured, such as typing, writing, math, reading and the ability to use software programs. By contrast, soft skills are less tangible and harder to quantify, such as etiquette, getting along with others, listening and engaging in small talk. You can get more details with examples at the link given below:

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/h/hard-skills.asp

It is time for me to make an inventory of the skills I possess and prepare a list of the skills I would like to improve further for my career advancement as a trainer, speaker, and an author. I shall also explore the tools, techniques, and programs that would help me polish and sharpen my skills. How about you? Would you also like to do the same for yourself as an individual and also for the people working in your organisation as a responsible leader?

To your continued success,
With love,
Siva

Happy New Year '2017': Be loving (5)

Hi,
“The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves - say rather, loved in spite of ourselves.” ― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

Be loving....towards your family members, relatives, colleagues, neighbours, and finally and more importantly YOURSELF. Love yourself, and others too. May your New Year be filled with abundant love and affection!

To Your Success,
With love,

Siva

namam no. 367) maargah (मार्गह) (మార్గః)

aum maargaaya namah (ओं मार्गाय नमः) (ఓం మార్గాయ నమః)

Here the woprd 'maarga' means exploration. As He is explored by His devotees, He is called maargah.

As He blesses His devotees fulfilling their desires, they search for Him in order to find Him. In other words, it means learning about the form of the god which we do not know about. This means worshipping Him by keeping in mind His form, His qualities as revealed by the Saastraas. Thus, as He is searched and explored, He is called maargah.

aum namo bhagavate vasudevaya!

L & D Series - Post 4: ATTITUDE, The 1st of the 3 Areas for Improvement

Hi,
Let us look at the 1st of the 3 areas for improvement, The ATTITUDE in this post.

Every one has an attitude. You have it. I have it. Every animal has it. Even plants and the seeds have it. Yes. They too have it. But the question is about the "kind of attitude" we possess. That determines what we are and what we become in our life. It is so important that you can change your life by just changing your attitude.

Attitude is nothing but your thoughts. It is the way you think about yourself and your world. It is the manner in which you treat yourself and others. It is the way you see at things and situations and respond to them. It is all about your thoughts, your perceptions, and your responses. And it boils down ultimately to your choices. You have total control on it, and no one else is responsible to your attitude.

It is with your attitude that you attract everything into your life, good or bad, success or failure, joy or misery, friends or foes, prosperity or poverty. And you are attracting it all the time like a magnet. Beware of it! Choose your thoughts rightly. Think of good about others and also good things for you. Form your attitude for your success, peace, and happiness.

I decide today to develop a positive attitude and nurture it carefully as I move forward in pursuit of my goals and dreams. How about you? Take a look at your attitude today. And be conscious of it and nourish it carefully as you move forward.

To your continued success,
With love,
Siva

Happy New Year '2017': Be Happy (4)

Hi,
"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." - Albert Schweitzer

Be happy...today...tomorrow...the day after.....and everyday of this New Year. You deserve it.

To Your Success,
With love,

namam no. 366) rohitah (रोहितः) (రోహితః)

aum rohitaaya namah (ओं रोहिताय नमः) (ఓం రోహితాయ నమః)

He is called rohitah as He has brightness similar to redness of the light of the interior of a lotus flower. As the word 'lohita' indicates the redness, and the colour of the interior of a lotus is also red, this namam means that He has such a red-coloured body. One may doubt, how this is possible as the colour of Sri Maha Vishnu is blue.

Here one has to understand that the colour of His body changes in some of His avataars. It was white in hayagreeva - hamsa and other avataars; golden in the form of the Sun. Similarly, at the time of His marriage with Sri Maha Lakshmi, His body shone with red light (lohita) like that of the interior of a lotus.

Happy New Year 2017: Be Passionate

namam no. 365) viksharah (विक्षरः) (విక్షరః)

aum viksharaaya namah (ओं विक्षराय नमः) (ఓం విక్షరాయ నమః)

As stated earlier, as He is the one whose love for His devotees does not diminish, He called viksharah.

He never stops loving His devotees. This namam means that that love is stable and constant. As revealed by Him in the Bhagavadgita, 'mayite, teshu, chaapyaham,' He loves His devotees in the same manner as His devotees show their devotion towards Him.

L & D Series - Post 2: How do you go about training people in an organisation?

Hi,
Given below are the steps that could be followed while going about training people in your organisation:

1) Firstly, your organisation ought to understand and appreciate the value of getting the people working in the organisation trained.

2) Then, you have to identify the training needs of the people working in different functions/departments.

3) Chalk out a "Training Calendar" and roll it out.
You can take the help of a professional trainer to work with you in the whole process of training need assessment and preparation of training calendar, and its implementation.

4) Collect feedback at the end of each of the training workshops, especially on what the participants learned from the program and how they would like to use it in their day-to-day work.

5) Help the participants draw their action plans for their further improvement and utilisation of the learning gained from the program.

6) Follow it up with a review and make a check if the participants actually utilised the learning made from the program or not.

Going by this process, your organisation could get maximum mileage out of the investments it makes in training its people.

To your continued success,
With love,
Siva
