Hi,
To love is human. It is quite natural for us to love. We show our love towards our relatives, friends, teachers, children, and others. But its name changes depending on the persons that are loved. What we show towards our teachers/gurus is respectful love. That shown towards friends is called friendship. And the love that is expressed by parents towards their children is called vaatsalyam - the affection; and that shown towards god is called bhakti. Let me share with you my learning of the day on the vaatsalya prema through this Monday Motivational blog post today.

A cow draws its calf closer and licks its body with all the affection of a mother towards her child. It does not mind the dirt that exists on the body of the calf. Its love for its child is such that it does not even notice the impurities of its calf because of its vaatsalyam towards its child. Similar is the god's love towards His devotees.
Lord Krishna loved his parents Yashoda ma and Nanda baba, brother Balarama and sister Subhadra, and all other relatives, citizens, and gopis of Gokul. He loved his friends as we could notice it from his friendship with Sudama. His love for his devotees is that of a parent towards a child - the vaastalya prema. Take the case of bhakt Prahlad, who opposed his own father an rejected his orders. But Krishna loved him and protected him. Even the Pandavas! Were they perfect? Didn't they have any deficiencies? Didn't they commit any errors that blotted their personalities? But Krishna loved them and gave them a sense of security always, as they had bhakti towards him.
In the entire Mahabharata, we could notice that all those who had bhakti towards Krishna experienced his vaatsalya prema irrespective of their age. That's why he is called 'bhaktavatsalah,' as he shows his vaatsalya prema towards his devotees who have bhakti for him.

It is essential for one to have bhakti towards god. It is that bhakti, that respect, that consciousness, and that love for god which will stand in good stead at all times and helps us overcome the obstacles in life. Praise the God. Life is busy, But find the time to take opportunity to remember him, sing his melodies, dance in his tunes, and feel the bliss of taking his name and saying it louder.
Having bhakti towards god is loving god. That bhakti will earn the love of god - the vaatsalya prema. We may have our own weaknesses. But with bhakti, they will soon be overcome. The blemishes will vanish, the purity will clean the impurities, and the darkness will be replaced with a shining glow. God is kind. He loves those who love him. He is bhaktavasalah.

To your continued SUCCESS,
With love,
