Hi,
Can you remain calm in times of trouble? Do you have the ability to treat pain also as something that is good for you? Can look at both good and bad or gain and loss in the same manner? Do you behave the same both in times of pain and pleasure? Or fall prey to the trap of complaining once confronted with a problem? Here are a couple of examples that illustrate the need for remaining uncomplaining even under the circumstances of the most painful problems.

Did you ever stay uncomplaining, especially when faced with problems? Prahlad and Kunti did.
Prahlad was a son of the demon king Hiranyakasipu. While he was an ardent devotee of lord Vishnu, his father treated Vishnu as his enemy. Knowing son's love for Vishnu, the king appointed a teacher to brainwash him and change his nature. Unable to withstand Prahlad's devotion to Vishnu, the teacher became very angry and beat him with a cane mercilessly. But, Prahlad stayed quiet and completed his education.
Hirnaykasipu tried forcing Prahlad to stop him from loving Vishnu by different means including some of the most painful experiences. Prahlad took all of it with a smile on his face. Even when his father ordered his subordinates to kill him, Prahlad did not complain about it. He never blamed god. He was happy always. He remained calm and treated all of that as something that was good for him.
If you look at the nature of Kunti Devi also, you will notice a similar kind of behaviour. She lost her husband when she was young. Her sons Pandavas lost their kingdom to the Kauravas. She faced a lot of troubles along with her sons. She had to live in a forest for 12 years. But she never complained to Krishna. She only thanked Krishna that she had the difficulties and thus got the opportunity of remembering him more and more. She always considered difficulties good for her as she thought she could thus think of Krishna more and more.

It appears that those who have firm faith in their god get this ability to treat their troubles as a blessing in stead of a bane for them. They know that everything they go through has a purpose that god wants them to serve. They believe that god has a plan for them and therefore take every difficulty in their stride and come out of them with a smile. They remain serene and calm at all times while others without this ability go through intense pain. It is time to introspect and take a check on how strong our faith is in the god we believe in.
To your continued SUCCESS,
With love,
Siva
