Trainer’s Notes for SUCCESS from Siva (TNSS 29): Your Comeback is Certain, if you care to take a cue from "The World's Greatest Comebacks"

Hi,
I am pleased to come back to you through Trainer's Notes for Success from Siva (TNSS) again with a review of another good book, "The World's Greatest Comebacks" by Robert Schuller.

If you are faced with the choice of giving in or fighting back, had a bad year in business, lost your job or recovering from an illness or injury or even experiencing the daily ups and downs, this book will give you eight steps to begin and achieve your comeback. First, you will prepare by focusing on your individual situation and mapping out a strategy for success. Next, you will repair your attitude by learning to eliminate fear, guilt and negative feelings that may stand in your way. And finally, you will set a course to care by acquiring the attributes necessary for a successful comeback.

Robert Schuller draws examples of true stories of comebacks from Bible, sports, entertainment, and business worlds. You will read about everyday heroes who saw their problems as opportunities and celebrated their situations!

If you choose to recognize your setback as a springboard to your comeback by applying the 8-step process for a positive beginning in your life, you may like to continue to read further the notes given below. Here are the 8 steps in brief:

1. Believe in miracles and Expect them: A belief in miracles is essential to the comeback process. If you believe in miracles, they will happen in your life. You will see problems of illnesses or disappointments or even failed business turn around in a miraculous manner. Don't just hope for miracles; Expect them, despite the odds.

2. Prepare yourself for the miracle: The first thing to do in the process of a comeback is to recognize the burdens in life as the tools for a miracle. That may not be the usual way of thinking, but it is possible to use burdens as opportunities for miracles to occur. Prepare for a miracle, first mentally and expect it to happen to you in what you do. With that FAITH in miracle, 3 'A's happen: Attitude changes, Action begins, and Aptitude for a complete and permanent comeback develops.

3. Attitude: With your attitude of faith, there is assurance, and no doubt about it. You know it is going to happen. So, it leads to action.

4. Action: There are 3 courses of action: practical, emotional, and spiritual. There are can's and can'ts, and miracles happen to those who focus on can's and take their actions without bothering for the can'ts. The cant's become can's as you study the issue, break it down into elements, understand the ways and means, prepare solutions, and take action to find a different way.

5. Aptitude: is your commitment in doing things for shaping a successful complete comeback. Stay committed for your comeback; and you would soon realize that the impossible becomes Himpossible.

6. Be sure to comeback the right way: For a complete comeback, you have to choose a proper course, and there are 3 steps in this process: Change, Arrange, and Exchange.
  1. Change: Turn around and change focus; obstacles would become opportunities, forego-its appear as go-for-its. What is most needed here is 'repentance' for the errors of the past, and be willing to open the eyes and change the direction.
  2. Arrange: Simplify, unclutter, and arrange things in order to allow miracles to happen. Pulling away from distractions and breaking free from old habits that sapped the energy and time are critical for miracles to happen. It boils down to choices-your choices, You decide your destiny, and miracles happen to you.
  3. Exchange: Give to receive. Exchange your gifts, shoulder someone's burdens, and very soon you can exchange your questions for answers.
7. Factors holding you back from achieving miracles and What you can do to overcome them:
  1. Fear: Yes, you can overcome fear. Trace your fear, erase your fear, and allow God to grace your fear. How? If you fail, as we all do sometimes, life is not over. God takes failure, and he turns it into good. You can count on it.
  2. Guilt: Yes, you can overcome guilt. You can rewrite history. Maybe your comeback is hindered by guilt. You have made a mistake, and not you think, "I am not worthy of a comeback." Yet, a complete comeback is possible. Remember, people who have comeback capabilities are the ones who face their failures, accept their reality, and learn from their mistakes.
  3. Negative thinking. Yes, you can overcome negative thinking. Think of the word B-O-L-D and the 4 steps the letters might represent:
    1. Banish negative thinking
    2. Open your mind to God's dreams
    3. Look for ways to comeback
    4. Daily take steps in that direction
  4. Prayer: Prayer should be our first resource rather than our last resort.
8. Positive attitude for a positive comeback and How to acquire it:
  1. Wisdom: Ask for it. Wisdom begins with humility. It is wise, not weak, to admit that none of us has all the answers. We need help. Anyone who asks for wisdom with a humble attitude and humane heart will always receive it.
  2. Love: Go for it. Swap anger for love. So often the temptation is to hold a grudge, blame the person who caused a setback, or get bogged down with feelings of anger. You need to shake these negative emotions off and replace them with love. Rather than concentrate on the setback, you need to celebrate a comeback.
  3. Magnify: Consider magnifying your comeback by working for ways to make it grow so it will benefit many others.
  4. Celebrate: Celebrate your comebacks and move beyond them. Like any victory, a comeback usually is accompanies by a burst of energy. You feel good. A problem has been solved, and a new beginning stretches out in front of you. You are going in the right direction, and you have the momentum. Now, don't lay back, because success is never certain and not a place that we reach. It is a journey and a progressive realization of worthy goals. There will always be other setbacks, challenges, possibilities, and opportunities. Don't fear the future, take actions daily, and move toward the goal. A comeback will always follow each setback. "YOUR COMEBACK IS CERTAIN."
To your SUCCESS,
With love and regards,
Siva
